Each Global Newt science game can be played at multiple levels of difficulty and by as few as one player, so the game can be structured to the ability and level of the player(s).
This Casa level game introduces simple food chains for animals that live in the air, on land and in the water - with 2 carnivores, 5 omnivores and 10 herbivores in each habitat. Up to 3 children can play Global Mania, each focusing on one habitat: air, land or water.
Co-operative play, rather than competitive, is recommended for this age group.
The set includes 18-inch game board, 51 creature cards with stands (colour-coded to match the spaces on the board), with a picture of the animal on the front and the common name and scientific name of the animal on the back, a colour-coded die for advanced play, a control chart, plus instructions.
Creature Cards are anatomically correct, original artwork drawn and researched by a zoologist.
(Teacher should assemble creature cards into colour-coded stands prior to playing the game. Game play should be preceded by a discussion of food chains, and why there are more herbivores than omnivores, and more omnivores than carnivores. Basic information on food chains is included in the instructions.)
Global Mania can be purchased with an Animal Pack of 51 animal objects plus a separate control chart for the objects, if preferred, instead of the animal cards included in the basic game.
